Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

Porsche Lovers, I am going to be a first time Porsche owner. My knowledge has in the past been limited to the boxster models but now that I am going to get my own I have come to a crossroads. I can buy a 2008 Porsche 911 4s w/ 36000 miles OR 2005 Porsche 911 Turbo S with about 30000 miles... They are pretty much the same price. Please help with expertise. Assume the upgrades are relatively the same other than the newer year. Thoughts? Ideas? Help and knowledge are appreciated!! What I really want is just a fun driving car!! Just nice and fast and fun!! thanks in advance

POST 2Original post

Just to make sure, are you referring to 997 C4S vs 996 Turbo? The C4S will have potential issue with the IMS, while the turbo cars won't (regardless of 996 or 997). The Turbo will be a faster but (much) older car if we are talking about the 996 model for the Turbo.

POST 3Original post

Both of those cars would be 997s. Only concern i would have on thr 2005 is that it is a first model year for the 997. Ive read a lot on 996s on 6speedonline. That is a good resource for 911s

POST 4Original post

My recollection is the 997 turbo didn't come out until 2006. So if it's truly an 05 turbo it would be a 996. Very easy to tell the difference. The 997 as in the C4s is a much nicer interior, imo. To the OP, only way to know is to drive them both. I would probably lean to the c4s. Now if comparing 997 turbo to 997 c4s, then turbo .
