Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi I had new air con elements put in the front of my C2 996 as the other ones were leaking and the system was refilled. The only problem is that the AC doesn't oump out hot air from a cold start (it wasn't doing anything before due to the leak), it only pumps the warm air coming naturally from the heater. It does though push out cold air. Any thoughts on this, is the air con supposed to push out hot aiur without the car heater having warmed up? The compressor is clearly working and kicking in when the ir con is engaged. If it is, any thoughts on the likely problem here? Thanks :eh!:

In answer to your query no. The car must still be warmed up for you to get hot air. All A/C does to hot air is dehumidify it and it still relies on the receipt of hot air from the heater - in your case the water and mine heat exchangers. Also the A/C wont work below an ambient temp of ~5/6 DegC to protect it. Now if you had an additional heater like the webasto in my Audi - you would get hot air within 2 minutes of driving even when its -5 DegC outside. Lovely!

Try turning off the aircon by pushing the 'snowflake' button, that will allow the heater to warm the car up faster. TB
