Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

So here it is, the factory manual says just remove three of these bolts and loosen the fourth. "37. Remove engine mounting by unscrewing the three hexagon-head bolts (M10 x 120) and the hexagon-head bolt (M10 x 80). Only loosen the left upper hexagon-head bolt (M10 x 120); the hexagon-head bolt can be unscrewed after the engine mounting has been removed." BUT - when you loosen the aforementioned bolts, there is a surprise bonus torx cap screw... Anyone dealt with this yet?

POST 2Original post

I don't recall that being removed during my engine swap, just the main bolts, but maybe I missed that happening or something while uploading pics.

POST 3Original post

Ken, They should have swapped this from your original motor to the newer motor. I want to remove it to make the reinstall easier with my lift.

POST 4Original post

Are you sure the torx bolt actually attaches the mount to the engine? Maybe it just holds pieces of the mount together, or maybe it's actually on the engine and not part of the mount. But, if you have to take that torx bolt out, it looks like you need to remove the two transverse bolts that go through the rubber so you can drop the "cradle" (the part of the mount that attaches to the body).

POST 5Original post

For future reference, yes that torx bolt needs to be removed.

POST 6Original post

Had the same problem when I removed mine about 30k ago. A good deal of time later I found this and removed it. The mount could then be removed.

POST 7Original post

Here are some photos in my article on installing a sport engine mount. Sport Engine Mount - Articles The offending bolt may be used to keep the mount assembly aligned before attaching to the engine

POST 8Original post

sorry for bring this back up, so do you just lower the engine more, loosen and remove the 2 transverse bolts that go through the rubber mount so you can drop the lower "cradle/carrier" I was doing this over the weekend but worried to lower the engine more, looks like is possible but I was worried thanks

POST 9Original post

I asked FF, they said just lower and tilt to the engine left so you can get those 2 long bolts out then remove the lower carrier. I will try this weekend
