...I've also got a seal grey 996, and I've been after some wheels like this for a while: Does anyone know what they are, or where I can get them from? I know it says that they're Sports Design in the ad, but I've looked and can't find anything similar. Is the colour likely to have been added afterwards? Also - what is meant be "colour crested centres"?

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

The 18" Sport Designs come up secondhand fairly often (I sold mine a year ago to get some 18" Carreras). The faces would have been painted in this example. Best option is to get some wheels that need refurbing and have this fininsh applied at the same time. Note that this style are a pain to clean and the rims are easily damaged. Crested centres mean the centre caps are colour rather than black. Cheap'ish upgrade for cars that didn't have them (mine didn't). What wheels have you currently got.
Cheap they ain't, they are more expensive than the silver with black embossing. They become even more costly when the crest falls off due to lack of adhesive!! TB
Hi there - thanks for the replies. My wheels are shown here: http://911uk.com/viewtopic.php?t=48700&highlight= If I remember rightly, from the documentation they're also called Sport Designs (but I could be wrong). So I take it you need to take the wheels to a specialist company to have them painted?
Aren't those (first post) the wheels from a Mk1 GT3?
Yup, Sport Design II in Carrera offsets...
Just remembered there is a 996 near me that has them with grey centres. They do look good, perhaps you could pop round and make him an offer ...
Try Jasmine Motorsport as they usually have refurbished wheels for sale. They are Sport Designs and I have them on my car which I got from Jasmine Motorsport. They are refurbished to a high standard. Give them a call to see if they have any done in the Grey you want. It does look good.
Thanks again for the info. Tertius - Thanks for the heads up, but it's a bit far to pop down from Manchester (I need to update my profile). Minny - I'll give Jasmine MS a look now, thanks. Any idea what my wheels would be worth? They've *just* been refurbed a couple of weeks ago and are like new.
Beware. I had Sport Designs on my Carrera 4. They're a beautiful wheel, but they're two piece / split rim construction and trapped moisture does cause corrosion. Nothing that can't be refurbed, but in my experience at least, they were high maintenance.
You are right about the wheels being high maintenance as the outer lip is polished, not powder coated therefore less resistant to corrosion. The lacquer is more likely to peel. I seal them with Autoglym wheel spray after each time I clean them. They do look good though.
Hi, Nice wheels but IMHO better suited to a GT3. Have you checked out sport techno's? Far easier to clean and quite rare. See my sig pic. Cheers Al
