I have what I have read is a common problem with my 996 passenger door. When I lift the door handle the window drops a few mm as expected but when I release the handle, with the door open, it raises backup again making it difficult to shut the door. I figure the car does not know the door is open and, I think confirmed this by locking the car via key fob with the pax door open. The locking sequence is happy completed and signaled by two flashes of the indicators. If I try this with the drivers door open I get a beep indicating somethings wrong. I see the handle switch here https://www.deroure.com/diagrams.asp?TBL=3326&MAK=3&MDL=28&SMA=0&SMO=0&ST=99737503303&SC=1 But this switch is obviously working and I see posts which mention 'switches' in the door handle but I only see one, so my questions would be: Where is the switch which tells the car the door is open? Inside the door lock maybe? There is not mention of a separate switch? https://www.deroure.com/diagrams.asp?TBL=3324&MAK=3&MDL=28&SMA=0&SMO=0&ST=99737503303&SC=1 Thanks for any advice,

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

You have already answered your own question The door doesnt know its open so only reacts to the handle switch .. hence you can lock the car with it open but no horn warning beep. The door lock ass has the switches that tell the car its open or closed .
