I've taken this to my local dealer once and am thinking of taking it to another. My local dealer said it's "normal" and their other Caymans do the same thing. My passenger seat, the seatback specifically, vibrates a lot. It vibrates/pulsates over bumps, when idling, on the highway... pretty much all the time. I thought that movement was odd. Also, because it vibrates/pulsates, it sometimes rubs against the center console and makes a faint, but annoying sound. Is this "normal" as the dealer suggested?

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I have the sport seats, 18" rims and PASM . I see the passenger seat vibrate all the time. At least it doesn't make any noise.... yet.
I have the sports seats PASM and 19" wheels, and the passenger seat does vibrate - sometimes, it makes a little noise... my 996 turbo did it before the CS, and the 996 did it before that, and the '75 Carrera did it too... all my 7 Porsches have done this, I guess. Not sure if that qualifies as normal... brad
I have the standard seats and my passenger seat does not make any noise. I wouldn't accept it as normal. Mike
I have standard seats and I notice a vibration at idle and over bumps and stuff. I think it is normal. Best solution- take someone for a ride with you.
FYI... If you have the standard seat too far back, or raked too far to the the rear, it will rub on the engine bulk head & make a noise. Does the same when getting in or out.
Yeah, it seems to happen regardless of whether the seat is all the way back or not.
My passenger seat has always vibrated a fair bit, but it's just recently started to make a noise against the console. (It touches ever so slightly). If I put something like a thin magazine between the seat cushion and the console the noise goes away. I've been meaning to try some Aerospace 303 or other product to see if it eliminates the noise, but I thought maybe I'd take it to the dealer and see if they can eliminate the vibration instead. Sounds like others have this problem as well... and yes, taking along a passenger does eliminate the problem!
