I might try to pop along (in a 997.2 C2 with a few tweaks) how is the access for ground clearance ?

Adrian-9iafn said: I might try to pop along (in a 997.2 C2 with a few tweaks) how is the access for ground clearance ? Access isn’t an issue, and rest assured there’ll be plenty of exotic stuff with less ground clearance than a lowered 997

POST 8Original post

Good point on access - I went to the Collecting Cars run in September & they had all cars going right from the entrance & over rough terrain before being directed to the parking area. Had wondered if they do that for all events now EDIT: I am still attending though

Was at this last year with SWMBO some cool 911s like this GT3 with its own trailer on show and also a very special 917. Sadly won’t be there this year. A few pics from our drive to and from Bicester it was snowing on the way back we had an awesome blast taking the long route on b roads home. Have fun!

POST 22Original post

Forgot to post the star of last year. Porsches greatest ever competition car.

Ah, that explains why so many GT3's are ultra low mileage The trailer looks seriously cool though!

never been is it good? not been to any car meets recently other than the porsche thing at brands some weeks back. the gt3 needs a stretch. did go to the new handy cross centre today though

IMI A said: Forgot to post the star of last year. Porsches greatest ever competition car. That isn’t a genuine 917K, it is an Icon replica. It still looks fabulous, having been reverse engineered from an original 917K, but only has a flat 6 engine rather than a flat 12

POST 29Original post

ok thats helpful cheers. the drive scares me becuase im not really settled with the gt3 despite owning it for 4 years. and can i ask, why not bothered about going again?

POST 30Original post

The main hall has some interesting old and modern Pork and stalls of Porsche stuff, sweaters, mugs etc, 911 prints that sort of thing. I didn't know what to expect. Quite cold etc dress up warm. I think once you've been once for me you've taken it all in but make your own mind up if you go

POST 31Original post

RC1 said: Never been is it good? Not been to any car meets recently other than the Porsche thing at Brands some weeks back. The GT3 needs a stretch. Did go to the new handy cross centre today though If you're specifically going to see Porsches, I'd suggest you may be a bit disappointed, as it's not a Porsche specific event, though I think there was a Porsche specific event at some point this year or late last. A none specific Scramble event attracts a plethora of differing makes and ages of car, so you've every chance of seeing anything from an immaculate 1980's SD1 Rover Vitesse to a Singer DLS and Singer Classic to an X pack Capri, an Impreza 22B, a beautifully Restomodded Lancia Delta Integrale and/or an Alfa 105 along with everything else in between from GT4 RS Caymans to stunning aircooled 911's, 365's etc etc. There's as much Pork to be seen on the car parks, as there is in the main display area. See my and others photos in this thread : https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&... And an apt comment from another PHer : Slippydiff said: olv said: Thanks. I really enjoy the Sunday scrambles because it’s full of interesting bits and pieces and it doesn’t attract the super car trinket crowd. I’d not been up close to a Singer and don’t exactly understand why you spend £700k on one but the finish of the product is undeniably lovely. I think it’s a cool venue with a nice atmosphere and moseying about the various workshops seeing all manner of old metal being carefully restored is great. I enjoy wandering the car park as much as the place itself. This ^ and perfectly put too !! A large part of my former boredom at these shows stemmed from looking at endless rows of garage queens, and little more. The car park admirably fulfilled the needs of those wishing to view an eclectic range of cars (and there was plenty of them) and whilst there were some "showpieces" present, the majority were nicely "usable" cars. Once in amongst the workshops and showrooms, the event took on an altogether different (and for me, even more more appealing) perspective. Whoever owns/runs manages Bicester Heritage has done a wonderful job of attracting such a fantastic mix of companies, and in a relatively short timespan. It felt more like a community than a business park/industrial estate. I'd not appreciated Singer have a UK base. I presume it's permanent and not just for the event/s ? So it made a pleasant surprise to find they had a presence there and Rob Dickinson was present too. Great to see Henry Catchpole there walking about with his wife and baby too

Not busy, the numbers are limited, I think to keep the local authority/highways dept happy. The tickets are available many months in advance. My first time for a Jan meet, but all the other meets I’ve been to there, have had stunning weather.

POST 54Original post

Which entrance do we go through last and only time I have been we were directed across a field don’t fancy that in the Porsche so may have to come in the 4x4 with all this rain?

The entrance to the Scramble is through either the West or South entrances. The main gate isn’t used. In both cases you then drive on a gravel track, before turning on to the grass to park.

[/quote] The tickets for the Scramble meetings almost always sell out in advance. The tickets for the April 21st Scramble go on sale next week, unless you are a member of Scramblers, in which case they went on sale this week,

If anyone has a spare free child ticket, I would appreciate it if they could send it my way. I have 1 x adult ticket but now need to take my 2 year old. I'm not sure how strict they are about under 5's having a ticket, so I'd prefer to air on the side of caution.
