Hi Probably today's 2 dumb questions? Trickle charger now connected but how do I lock the doors, keep the monitoring alarm system on in the interior but off in the luggage area so I can leave the charger connected? Is there a way to turn off the luggage compartment light other than pulling the bulb or fuse?

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Don't know how the 996 differs from the 993 in this regard, but on the 993 you can push the bonnet lock down whilst leaving the bonnet open so it fools the car into thinking it is locked and then the alarm can be set.
You can exit the charger's lead across the scuttle area, where it will get squashed rather than cut when the lid is closed.
Thanks Guys.......both solutions do the trick
