Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Topic: Standard Boxster Interior compartment behind seats. shoulder high, accessed by two sliding doors, both open from center to outboard. Problem: port side sliding door is open and stuck, maybe past a detent. It does move a little. I would like to be able to close it and don’t want to force it. Are there any suggestions from any of those who have lived with a standard Boxster longer than I have? Thanks for any help.

The entire bottom of the rear shelf storage is open. Remove the rear shelf by undoing the top fasteners lift it up and you should have full access to the track.

Might makes right, in this case. I had the exact same problem a few years back. I removed the assembly, took it apart as much as I could (which wasn’t much), and in the end, just pulled really hard on it, and it broke free. I could have, and you can, do the same thing with it still in the car.

It’s the steel reinforcement rods that loosen and block the door tracks. Once they’re back in place the doors work as usual.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

A person more knowledgeabel than I manipulated the track behind the offending door managed to get the door to close. All is well, Thanks for all the attention.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

A person with more knowedge than I have manpulated that track behind the door allowing the door to close. All is well, thank you for your attention.

Same problem on my '99. I think a little epoxy was all that was needed to secure those little rods.
