According to the new cayman catalog, only the S has direct injection. Last Saturday, my local dealer told me that both the base and the S have it. When I told him what the catalog said today, the salesman said the catalog was wrong. Who's right?

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

catalog!!!!!
What dealer told you this? The 2009's do not, I've not heard anyting about the 2010 non-S's having it either.
The new '09 and '10 2.9 Caymans have the new block without the intermediate shaft, better oiling system, etc., but have port injection, not direct injection. brad
never believe a car salesman... about cars, or otherwise.
Ask how much the dealership would disount the car if it turned out, by some freak occurance, to not have DFI. Always ask for skin. If they are not willing to put up some skin, they can't be trusted. When they are proven wrong, it allows them to save face by calling things even. After all, thye bet and lost...but paid up. I do it all of the time. Don't argue. Just have them agree to a gift cert for $250 if they are wrong. LOL.
Prestige Porsche in Denver
While this view is certainly true in some instances, and is extremely popular, it's really disingenuous, at best. I've met many, many very knowledgeable car sales people, especially at Porsche dealerships. It's really a shame that so many have decided that everything can be summed-up with only partially-true blanket statements, where reality is something entirely different. brad
I'll agree with Brad on this. As a novice Porsche buyer, I was helped in making several important decisions about options by a very experienced salesperson. Time has shown that she was right on.
I have an 09 2.9 and it's port injection. Get a different sales person because this is very basic information.
