Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

...just came on, 3200 miles, in-service date of Feb. 2008...car has not been driven in a while (on battery maintainer) - seems kinda early doesn't it?

POST 2Original post

It's based on both time and mileage. At 1.5 years it's probably due at least for an oil change...

I would suggest you take out your "maintenance" manual, which is a separate book from the owner's manual and give it a good read-through. Porsche recommends you get the '08s serviced once a year or every 10-12k miles... as Vitamin C said, it both time and mileage, whichever comes first - which is also why you're getting a service reminder on your dashboard. In this case the car was put in service 19 months ago. If you haven't look at other threads about this, here are some previous on the same topic - BTW, the service intervals for '06 cars were 2 years/20k miles, but it was changed to 1 year/10k miles with the '07+ cars. http://www.planet-9.com/cayman-chat/27047-service-engine-30-days-message.html http://www.planet-9.com/cayman-boxster-electronics/22925-canceling-service-now-due-message.html http://www.planet-9.com/cayman-boxster-tech/19376-message-service-16-days.html http://www.planet-9.com/cayman-boxster-tech/13922-first-service-cayman-s.html http://www.planet-9.com/cayman-chat/27496-so-service-light-3k.html This is by no means a comlpete list - this is only about 25% of them - it gets discussed a lot around these parts... brad

Thanks and I did consult the manual albeit it was not clear, which is why I asked here. If it was a one year timer then I should have seen the message in Feb. or March of this year but did not.

POST 5Original post

I believe the service interval changed to one year commencing with the '08 MY.
