Hi All, I'm looking at a 2012 991 911S "Launch Car". CPO, well optioned. Seems like a good price on the car. I'm curious if anyone has any insight into the "launch car" part of it. Any reason to avoid them other than it's the first of a new model and potential new type problems?

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I've never read any issues with 991 launch cars. Dealer might have used it for a demo but the car is CPO. There are some campaigns that need to be done but just make sure they do them before they sell it to you. Should be fine.
Thanks. That's kinda what I was thinking. As far as I know everything is fully updated. It was very recently CPO'ed. And its in terrifically good shape.
mileage cost equipment? carl
10k, lots of stuff, Chrono, PDCC, PSE, park assist, cooled/heated 18 way seats, PDK, PDLS, I know I'm missing a few other things. Low 90's.
You can probably get it a bit cheaper if you haggle. Full leather? You can probably get it for 90k if it's CPO. It's interested there are so few 2012's out there. I have one, and my local dealer never has one in stock. I'l guessing in the next 6 months we'll start seeing a lot more on the market from 3 year lease returns.
Launch cars are generally highly optioned examples of a new release. The 2012 991's all seemed loaded sometimes with things you might not want. The price is probably right for a CPO car.
Yeah... if you look at the various Boxster launch cars... they all come in the uber-expensive colours (Lime Gold, Big-Money Silver, and Carmine Red) and all come with full leather or otherwise decked out interiors. It seems to be Porsche's way of really highlighting what's possible with the new model. That said... later on, they're probably really good deals as we all know things like fancy paint doesn't really hold any residual value.
Thanks for all the thoughts and comments on this. My wife and I bought the car yesterday.
Congrats, and let's see the pics. icsplz:
Weather has been a little ugly. When I get a chance I will. And thank you.
