Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Everyone, I've scoured the internet to see if the optional stainless exhaust tip on a base '98 B(placed over the standard exhaust tip) is removable, but no luck. I have removed the two bolts on either side of the exhaust tip. however, it won't budge. Is the optional tip spot welded on to the standard tip, or am I just missing something another attachment point? Thanks

POST 2Original post

Pictures would help confirm exact tip you're inquiring about (just to be safe) but yes optional 2.5L exhaust tip did just slide over OEM muffler tip. It secured w one Allen screw each side as I recall. That said, someone may have tacked yours on but you should be able to readily see the dirt dauber's work. AFTER squirting copious amounts of [fka PB] Blaster or Kroil penetrating oil between std and optional tip for a couple of days, try a rubber mallet to jar it loose side to side. Good luck

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks Burg Boxster. I have removed the Allen bolts as you described, but hadn't sprayed anything on the mating surface. I'll give it a shot and provide an update.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

You were correct Burg Boxster, it only required a little liquid motivation and the 3 pounds of dead weight is now gone! Thanks
