Possible to play a movie on the Porsche screen display? Perhaps by tapping into an input cable with a electronic device able to output movies off an SD card or something? I know there are aftermarket backup cameras that are somehow able to put output to that display. Does anyone know anyone who has ever done this before? Thanks.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I don't believe so. I have the 6 stack DVD player and the Digital TV with my 2013 981 . TV works a treat, the DVD plays music DVDs but no video. There are no Video Codecs installed in the PCM to allow play from USB sources. Also there is no Composite or Component AV ability. After market units general have an AV input of some sort to support backup camera's. The new 2015 981 Models do have a backup camera so there may be a way to splice that video signal. But you would need some ability to also source the audio. So I guess we are all out of luck with 991s and 981s. Panamera has the entertainment system for the rear passengers.
The only way to play movies - is to throw away the stock screen and replace it with tablet. There is a thread here about guy doing just that. It was lots of custom work though.
