I get a ticking noise during and in between songs. However, it is particularly noticeable between tracks. It totally disappears when there is no music between the tracks (i.e. fades as the song ends) and increases as the volume of the new track increases! Depending upon the music being played you can also hear it some times when a song is in full flow, although this generally masks it. The frequency would be no more than a tick per second. It is really annoying and intrusive. Does anybody know what causes this and what the fix is?

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I think you are the first on the forum to have this issue... though strange noises are often reported and caused by bad amplifiers. In an effort to help you resolve it, I have a few questions... What headunit (cdr 24 or PCM) and sound system (standard, sound package plus, or Bose) do you have? Does this happen across all sources (CD and AM\FM radio?)
Sound system PCM. Sound package plus - CS with 9 speakers. Happens on CD's regardless of whether they have been bought or burned! Seen another example of this on here but it was contained within a another more general thread, hence didn't get answered
If it happens on cd's but not the radio, then it won't be the SPP amplifier in the front trunk, plus that amplifier is only responsible for three of the speakers (front center, 2x front door sub). It must be the headunit, perhaps to do with the cd drive in it. The dealer should replace it under warranty. You could try turning off speed volume and surround and seeing if the noise is still there; that would single out the cd drive in the PCM and not the sound processor...
Tried playing the stacked cd system for the first time tonight (only owned the car for 3 days) and it was perfect. Seems what ever the problem is, it is only connected to the cd player in the PCM. Hopefully get the car booked in for the dealer to fix it before the warranty expires at the end of this month
