Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

After following the threads regarding getting more horses out of our Caymans including dropping a 3.8 in it and supercharging it occurred to me that surely the ultimate Croc could be had by dropping a 997 Turbo engine in. Are there any tuners that offer this or is it just technically not possible? Thoughts anyone?

POST 2Original post

It mates up to a different transmission, different engine mounting points, exhaust routing and manifolds. You're right, it would be an "easy" answer if it just bolted on. I think Porsche already thought of that as the same thing applies to the GT3 power plant. I don't think 997 Turbo engines come particularly cheap anyway. You'd end up with a Cayman that cost more than the 997 turbo and doesn't have 4WD or LSD. I'm sure you could "figure out" a way to put either engine in, but at what cost vs. another equally invasive mod.?
