Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hello there, I recently purchased my first Porsche, a lovely 03 996 Carrera 4S. The previous owner removed the exhaust muffler (removed not bypassed) to give the car a thirstier sound. As a newbie I'm not sure of the impact of this. Is it anything to worry about? Thank you, Rob

Aside from your hearing and relationship with your neighbours!!!!! I assume it's loud!!

POST 5Original post

Are you saying the car has no silencers? There should be two in parallel. Are the catalytic converters still fitted? Either way the impact will be no ability to meet track day noise regulations and I would have thought some difficulty come MOT.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
