Trying to find an annoying rattle from the front end of the car and wondering if any of my 987.2 brethren can check something for me. When you stand at the front of your car and gently press down on the frunk lid near the Porsche emblem near the latch, does it move and/or rattle a bit? Mine does a little, and I'm wondering if that's what I hear on a bumpy road. And, is this common to these cars, or is the latch on mine loose a little bit. I've thought of it possibly being suspension related, but it only happens on rough surfaces. And, the car handles great otherwise; no noticeable suspension issues. Thanks.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

The emblem is designed to be tight, mine has no movement. Sometimes a loose front badge can indicate it was hit and fixed but it's not the only explanation.
It very well could be the foward control arms that attach to the lower control arm. The monoball at the front wears and creates the clunk. Only on rough surfaces. Parts are available aftermarket and the swap is easy if your mechanically inclined. I just changed them on my 11 boxter, clunking gone. Lester
I should have been more specific. Not talking about the emblem itself. But the hood. Specifically where the latch is. Meaning, is it normal to have a bit of play or bounce in the hood. Or does it normally fit tightly? And by bounce, I mean, just a small amount.
There are adjustable rubber "bumpers" that can be screwed out half a turn at a time to eliminate any play in the latch mechanism. The bumpers are on the front corners of the hood.
