Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

i'm curious to know what kind of things Stongard stands up to. i have a '99 aero kit that sits fairly low to the ground. thanks!

POST 2Original post

Does a pretty good job at protecting. Bug stains are a bit of a pain to get off, in fact one species of bug?? leaves an orange stain that will NOT come out. Hopefully that bug lives nowhere near you. I have not done my brand new 996 yet but have it on my Audi

POST 3Original post

Have Armour Glove on the M5 and thee 996. Would do it again in a second. It really does protect.

I can tell you that Invinca-shield on my wife's old RX300 took one heck of a hit one day and held up. We were behind a pickup truck on the highway and the guy must have been a plumber because suddenly he goes over a bump and this piece of PVC pipe falls off the truck, hits the ground and catapults up into the air. Well it is rush our and we've got cars on both sides of us and nowhere to go. It was like watching a slow motion movie, the piece of pipe carwheels down and impacts the front of the car where the hood slopes towards the front grill then kareems off and hits the windshield wiper arm on the passenger side and on over the top of the vehicle. Ouch! Later we inspect and the first point of impact where it was protected by Invinca-shield has a very minor dent, almost unnoticeable unless you looked for it at the right angle and the material on top is fine. The wiper arm on the other hand had a dent much much larger as was bent 5-10 degrees. While it is true that the body sheet metal is probably thicker than the wiper arm (this was the arm not the blade), I have to believe Invinca-shield saved what would otherwise have been a very nasty dent and loss of paint. We've had it on every car for the last 5+ years now and the stuff is great, no complaints! With regard to those one bugs, they don't live in our area, I think they live in Flordia? But I've heard that over time they fade out and aren't a problem. My last Porsche had the GT3 nose (see link below) and it was protected and never had a problem, in fact the install photos are in the pictorials section of the website at the link below. Best of luck!

Syma, The stains will bleach out in the sun. Trust me. I have the same issue and one day of driving in the sun and they bleach out. If they don't, Stongard will replace it free. It's part of the warranty. I've had it 2 years now and it's been excellent. My most recent incident where I was thankful I had it: Yesterday in the garage, I had just parked the 996. I pulled in too far, and was having to squeesze between my front bumper and the wall. In the process, I dropped my key chain full of keys (I carry a lot of keys!) on the hood! Right on the stongard. Whew! No issues. Had I not had it, OMG it would have been ugly.

It all seems to be the same stuff made by 3M. I have Ultrashield on my daily drivers and it has held up very well. I have come across the bug that leaves the stain, but it is only temporary. I want it on my Pcar, but I would need to repaint the hood and bumper to make it worthwhile... too many chips.
