Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi guys. My first post here so thank you in advance for any advice. I am about to put my 996 C4S up for sale which has served me well but I hardly use it. I just wanted to see if anyone had any advice on pricing as it is a very low mileage model. 2004 C4S cabriolet 1 owner from new 13,222 miles Manual Artic silver Blue leather interior with blue hood Pretty much fully loaded with FSH There is an advert online for £54,950 with 8000 miles but I think that is ridiculous for a 996. I should also mention it is registered in Jersey so has no VAT paid on it. Would I list it for sale with VAT or not included in the price since it is more likely to sell in the UK than Jersey? Would the buyer pay VAT on the sale price or the price i originally bought it for? I really loved this car and it gave me lots of enjoyment but it's time for a 992 now and hopefully driving more! Thank you. Elaine.

POST 2Original post

Hi, welcome to the forum. That is seriously low mileage, are you able to post up the service history? MC

POST 3Original post

If it is the one I'm thinking os the £54K one has been up for a very long time on different platforms and at wildly different prices. No idea on value tbh as it will really depend on what the service history includes and how quickly you want to sell it. Assuming it is the soft top and not a hard top version? With that mileage you will either have to sell low enough to atract someone who actually wants to drive it or be patient enough for someone who considers a cab collectable. Tricky one but would like some pics. Either way all the best selling it.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thank you for the replies. I can dig out the service history in the morning and post it. Car Gurus said 45k but I'm looking to price it to sell relatively quickly. INWB - it is the soft top version but I also have the winter hard top that can be fitted. Uploaded some photos for you. I hope the link works! https://imgur.com/a/qxT39LG

POST 5Original post

I looked at buying a Porsche from Jersey a while back. Phoned HMRC who said Vat was due on the current value plus when I registered it they would then decide if they wanted to charge me Import duty. I asked them to be more specific on the import duty but they would not say how much it would be as that would be decided when registering it. I gave up in the end, too many maybes

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

How wonderfully vague of them. How can they expect anyone to import a car if they're not even clear on the duties? Madness

POST 7Original post

Possibly the person I spoke with could not be bothered checking as I had not bought the car but was just enquiring. You should maybe give them a call then you can let any prospective buyer know exactly how much its going to cost assuming you get a better reply regarding import duty. Seems a nice car with very low miles. The one I looked at was a 991 Targa with hardly any miles, must be a Jersey thing

POST 8Original post

I'd phone around Porsche and classic car specialists and see if they're interested in buying. The pitfalls of selling privately are magnified by buying/selling remotely, let alone what is effectively overseas. Whilst very desirable, a 996 isn't the kind of car many buyers will get on a plane for. I'd either find a keen Porsche specialist that can make the transaction work or a classic dealer that has experience of buying from Jersey. A further alternative would be an auction house that will help with the logistics. Good luck, sounds a lovely car! Oh and my finger in the air price would be £39,995 to sell.

POST 9Original post

Lovely car OP. Dick Lovett (Porsche Centre Swindon) seem keen to stock classics, (for example are currently advertising a 23k mile 4S coupe for £39,995) maybe worth a call, as do Porsche Centre Byfleet. Mark Pearce (Stirlings) 911Virgin.

Griffter thank you for your pricing guidance. Very useful. Robertb thank you, it's served me well despite the limited useage! Thank you for your advice as well. Will ring around today

POST 12Original post

Hi Elaine, If that was my car i would be inclined to give it to a trader to sell on sor. Either ship it over to 911 Virgin, or try it locally. I am in Jersey too, and can recommend either Steve Mccann at Oakhurst garage, or Craig Bowers at Maufant garage. I have no idea of the value but good luck with the sale. Cheers Rick

POST 13 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thank you for all your replies and advice guys. Car is now sold pending deposit and is staying on island. Guess i'll be moving to the 992 sub-forum now. Happy to put up photos if anyone wants to see the new car. Thanks Elaine

POST 14Original post

Go on then, let's have some photos of the new 992. Many congratulations, and health to enjoy.

POST 15Original post
