This was passed to me by a collegue. It is perhaps the coolest ad I've ever seen - and apparently was done without animation etc. It's like MIT or CalTech gone crazy. Honda Ad

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
13 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

I know this is supposed to be shot without CG, but the part with the wheels going UP on the ramp seems made up to me
Quite a rube goldberg, buy I agree the wheels rolling up are stretching it a bit
Me thinks the tires are counterweighted. Don't have time to watch it over-and-over, but they did seem to stop after rotating ~180 deg. -DT
Why? There is a road in central Florida where you park, put your car in nutral, and roll up hill... It's your eyes that can trick you... Roy
they are counter weighted, what they did was place bolts on the inside of the wheel and as soon as it was struck the bolts fall creating enough force to move the wheel. Everything was done without CG, there is a explaination of the entire thing somewhere on the net. Supposedly it took somewhere around 300 takes of setting things up and trying again, as if anything was a fraction off it wouldn't work.
I read it was over 600 takes. Wonder if they will try again for a U.S. model?
Counterweighted or not I don't see how you could get enough "weight" in there to make it roll uphill like that.
To me, the hardest part to believe is the muffler rolling on itself. It does not fall from very high but yet, roll on itself 4-5 times. There is no way this is for real. ACW
It certainly is real....I'll find the link and show ya
If any of you bought last month issue of 'Stuff' it as a CD attached to a Honda ad. There is about 30 minutes of video showing you how they made the ad.
The one I sorta like is the one with the Saturn driving through "life" and at the end coming to a sign saying " entering senior years" with a highway going off into the mountains the far distance. At the sign the Saturn takes a turn to the right. I imagine the commercial with me in my C4 arriving at the sign, stopping to observe, decide, and then the sound of the C4 going through the gears as I rip down that highway into my senior years.
does require some suspension of physics, but still a great great ad, and it would run as a :30 and be shorter on TV. my favorite is the porsche ad "baby don't stand no cheatin'" if you guys remember it she finds a phone # in his pocket, calls it thinking he's cheatin' and its a porsche dealer...
