Recently purchased a 2001 996 and love it to bits already... but, why did Porsche make the world's best car and put the world's worst seats in it? The driver's seat seems too narrow, and the side bolsters push me forward underneath my shoulder blades so uncomfortably that I'm getting neck pain. I'm pretty average size: 5'10 and weigh 13st, so it's not like I'm a bloater or anything. What alternative choices are there for seats? Has anyone found others that are great?

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I'm toying with the same issues with my 993 that has the comfort seats. Given up trying to find a pair of hardbacks. I think the fixed GT2/3 seats (Recaro) is the way to go but not found anyone that has driven long jorneys in them for normal road use.

hi, you might find it more cost effective to get an interior re-trimming company to strip the seats and add support (i.e. foam) to the areas that lack them. i went to see a guy about re-trofitting heated seats and he told me he got jobs like this quite often. one of his customers, with back problems, sends him a new car every couple of years to sort out.
