Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1Original post

Sometimes when I turn on the PCM in my 2008 Cayman, it says "Load new map data? [Yes] [No]" Is the navigation system really downloading updated maps? I thought I had to pay Navteq a few hundred dollars for update DVDs each year. If it is really downloading is it just updating POIs or everything? And how is it doing it? Over a cell network?

POST 2Original post

Sounds like you may have a problem with the map DVD. My unit did the same , so I removed the DVD and cleaned it. Worked fine thereafter. There is no live updating on the PCM , it updates only once when a new map is loaded.

POST 3Original post

Ah ok, thanks Berty. Bummer it can't update over the air. Maybe someday.
