Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

Hi all this is K-Man - an interactive sculpture I designed and built. Look at the fireworks behind it last night. It is located in Springfield, Missouri and they have named a section of Jordan Valley Park after it - K-Park. Now I just need to get a photo of it next to my new K-Man (Cayman) that is on order! But that may require some tricky driving to get in the middle of the park. Happy New Year everyone - and it will be a happy year if you are driving a new Cayman S Porsche! <input width="475" type="image" height="640" src="/UserFiles/K-man_night.JPG" />

thanks Brad, I see you also have a awesome car ordered. Nice wheels and I see you got the spacers. Also the rain sensor and mirror combo I couldn't bring myself to order - but will probably regret. I see you are a creative director, what basically does that involve?

POST 5Original post

You're welcome, K-man. I got the rain sensor and mirror combo because it was standard on my 2002 996 turbo, and I really love the way they work. The rain sensor is very cool, you set it in one spot, and never habe to touch it again... it adjusts the wipers based on how much it is raining and how fast you are going... and makes them infintely variable from one wipe every five minutes or so to full speed... I also like not being blinded in my sideview mirrors at night, especially with all the SUVs on the road, they tend to point their lights right into the mirrors of much lower Porsches. I redesign current magazines and newspapers and come up with the design for new magazines, and lately I've been designing and packaging photographic coffee table books. I did a huge project about a year ago called the America 24/7 digital project... from the same peple how did the 'day in the life' books. I've also designed some big e-commerce web sites. Brad Brad

Thanks Xstacy, wow I see you have a Viper SRT 10, now that is an ultimate cool car also. Are you getting a Porsche Cayman S also? As a owner of a Viper do you have a reason you would go down in hp like that? I have heard that the Viper is an excellent handling car.

POST 7Original post

Beez - interesting comments about the rain sensor and mirrors - but now it just make me want it, but you knew that. I haven't checked in awhile to see if I can add anything to my order so I suppose it is an excuse to give my dealer a call. I also see you had ordered the PASM, did you have that before on your 996 or do you have any personal comments about that? Your work sounds interesting. A magazine I work with is Sculpture Magazine, and they go through a redesign phase every few years just to stay fresh. I think this car appeals to the creative class of people, and to people who appreciate great mechanical engineering.

POST 8Original post

K-man - no, PASM was not available until the 997/987 models, but I'm an autocross instructor for Zone 7 (N. CA) of PCA and drove a PASM/Sport Chrono-equipped Boxster S from a local dealership to give hot laps to many of the students and was also able to drive a student's non-PASM/Sport Chrono car, and the difference was simply night and day. In sport mode, there was no body roll at all... and, I do mean none. The turn-in was very precise, and it was almost impossible to get the car to oversteer. Even my 996 turbo, sport suspension and all has more roll than that Boxster. The Caymen, with it's extra stiffness will be even better than the Boxster I drove. I've always been attracted to the marvelous engineering of the Porsches. Even my first one, a 1968 911L targa was leaps and bounds above what else was available back then, despite being very crude by today's standards. A friend of mine currently has a 1968 911L targa that he bought new, and he is always within 2-3 seconds of the top time of the day (which includes even full-blown trailered race cars) at all of the club autocross events. He has it very well set up, but it shows the sophistication of even a 37 year-old 2.0 liter car. brad

I didn't know that about the PASM not being available on the 996, but it is a new technology for sure. I read a bit about the Bose suspension that is being developed and wonder if that technology will come to Porsche someday. Actually the PASM seems to relate to what I had read about the Bose, so it is perhaps a bit ahead at this point. So this makes it yet another two grand option I want to add. And it's an important one on the track I'm sure. At this point I do have the Sport Chrono in my build, so at least I'm part way there.
