Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 2Original post

Yeah that was posted a long time ago and started another 911 vs. Cayman debate over there. Let's keep that from happening here shall we? I was going to post my review shortly thereafter but was asked by Porsche to hold off so I am doing so until the green light is given. RC's review is interesting for what it is, but I wouldn't take it at 100% face value.

POST 3Original post

I agree with K-man S, let's refrain from debates over Cayman S vs 911 vs Boxsters. Comparisons will always be made, but no point in trying to argue which is 'best' as that concept assumes you know what is important to each and every driver. BTW, my car is in, but dealer can't release until you know when.

In as in at dealership or In as incountry at port? Thought they were holding them at port until Jan 4th.

As I said previously I don't visit that site anymore and wouldn't have known or cared what they had to say about the Cayman. Despite comments and protestations to the contrary, rennteam is a site for adoration of the current 911 flavor (997) because older 911s and even the 996 are not the major focus, let alone other Porsche models. I am very pleased we have the Cayman Club for a lot of reasons, but one of them is that I no longer bother with any of the other boards looking for Cayman information. Before the Cayman Club I had to sift through a lot of posturing, current owner syndrome, and condescension just for a useful tidbit. No more! Edited by - DaveC on 12/29/2005 1:28:34 PM

mpollard you can leave the link to their review if you want and people can go read it if they want I don't want to shut people off from information either good or bad, people can make up their own minds how useful something is.

POST 7Original post

While there is a definite pro-911 bias, I found the Rennteam review fairly well balanced. What I liked most is that the 997S owner admitted thatthe Cayman is the sportiest Porsche if driving feel is the most important consideration for you. It is for me and even this not particularly friendly board confirmed my choice.

POST 8Original post

Not sure what this is all about.... Is it a reveiw at the Rennteam site??? If so, does not matter to me as I don't get to any other site about Porsches as yet. And the debate about which car is better is not for me anyway, as I have decided to order the car I have dreamed of owning (Porsche) and will be quite satisfied with it (unless it is a mechanical nightmare, which I am sure it won't be).

POST 9Original post

As our site grows I am pleased, and a bit amazed, that we have maintained our mature and courteous demeanor. While the Cayman is clearly the best Porsche for me, I know that others will prefer the Carrera or Boxster and none of us seems inclined to impose our opinions on others. I don't mind discussing the pros and cons of different cars but debating opinions is downright foolish. I think our maintaining this as a Cayman only site has something to do with it but there is more at work here than that. Exclusive M3 and Corvette boards still bash other cars and I think the people here, or the nature of Cayman S buyers, sets us apart. I hope it stays that way as our ranks grow into the thousands.
This site reminds me of the days when Audiworld was known as jets a4.org as in Jason E. Teller. Back when the A4 was not so popular, the board was cool and professional. As the Cayman popularity grows, it's inevitable that this site will get its share of loudmouths. Audiworld is still a good site, but you have to sift through a lot of cr@p. Policing would require and non-stop effort. One of the best deterrents to loudmouths is to not reply
(as difficult as this can be sometimes).
