Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1Original post

I have a 2006 Boxster S that has a ripped weather strip on the driver's door. I ordered a new one and just went to replace it. 8 screws hold it in place. Got the first 6 out without any problem. The remaining two at the bottom of the seal are another story. When I open the top to get to them there isn't enough room / the right angle to get a torx drive on the bottom one. I can move the top up/down to get to the top one, but not the bottom. I really don't want to start ripping the interior/top apart for this one screw. Has anyone replaced this seal before and can provide the magical incantation that's needed to get to this? The first pic is the one on the car. The second pic is the new one on the counter. I circled the two spots where the screws go. The third pic shows the location of the two screws with the top all the way down. s Thanks in advance for the help! John

So, after a little more research, I found that Porsche has a "specialty tool" for this. Made my own with a 1/4 in drive T15 bit, a 1/4 in ratcheting box end wrench, and some duct tape to keep it together so it wouldn't fall into the fender cavity. Magic incantation found. John

POST 3Original post

I recently replaced mine. You need to have a small retchet with T-20 torx. Open the top until the surface where these 2 screws are around 15 degrees angle with horizon. U then move the retchet around the pillar and u should be able to get to it.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
