I got the artic silver center dash with air vents but i think it is for a boxster because the 6 "buttons" on the dash are slanted and not straight. Will it fit anyway? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.....
Except for 2003, the Boxster switches are canted. The pods that hold the Boxster switches will not fit on the 2001 996 unless you also have the Boxster trim that wraps the vents, a/c display, and radio. A picture of what you have will help. Jeff

I saw the difference as soon as i opened the box with the item,my question is will it fit anyway?
The part number for the duct behind the vents for a 1997-2002 Boxster is the same as a 1999-2001 996 so it should just go right in. This is a pre 2002 996 vent (this one does not have the cross bar as it is for PCM), see if the back looks like your Boxster one.
