My new car will now not be ready till Monday,*****.On a side note it has a factory fitted GT3 kit with a switchable Sports exhaust, question, does this add any bhp to the standard quoted amount?

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I think the answer is a resounding..... no.
+1 A cheeky little fix for you though... One thing that used to annoy the hell out of me with the switchable: When crusing at around 30mph which generally is when you want to hear the rumble of the engine - it bloody cuts out!! Easy fix - with the switch 'on' - remove the relay from the panel located just under the steering wheel - hey presto! stays on all the time...!!! lovely...
Thanks for the tip! So the exhaust is just to sound nice then? I am coming from an Audi RS4 and there a sports exhaust sounds nice and adds a few ponies....i have much to learn!
No sweat - the number relay you need is 996.618.980.03 and from memory, I think it's the one top left uppermost as you look at the board... and yes - it's pretty much only about the noise. All the swtich does is open baffles in the exhaust - should take it up to or just over 100db at 4000 rpm though... I test drove an RS4 - it does carry a lovely soundtrack I would agree..!!
The electro-vaccum-mechanical actuator opens a valve on a by-pass pipe between the muffler's entry and exit pipes. The "oettle" or "fister D" mod does the same thing, but no valve and no switch - fraction of the price and the grin is one all the time http://911uk.com/viewtopic.php?t=51776 http://911uk.com/viewtopic.php?t=51363 Here with valving (OEM) Here DIY without valving: PS - this is the valving on a 997 GT3 (which is a different design, but you get the idea)
umm might try that, why does the switch need to be on, surely this switches it off?
And don't forget that the GT3 kit will require more power to push through the air so your car will be fractionally slower than an unspoilered version. I actually thought I saw somewhere a dyno readout that showed there was a power difference between open and closed on the PSE. Was I hallucinating?
Well Porsche did a great job with the Aerokit Cup, cd is only increased from 0.30 to 0.31 (which is still less than the C4S/widebody coefficient). This can be partially offset by a lowered ride height (as this reduces the overall frontal area, it is also enhanced by bumper aperture grills, as these force more smoothed air flow round the car). The overall effect is pretty irrelevant, unless you plan to drive around near 171 mph. You could always add an X51 kit to add another 7 mph. As for PSE enhancing power output, I guess there is a slight chance the reduced back pressure is advantageous. However, often these need to be tuned (all engines need some back pressure to work properly).
3% more drag is still 3% more power needed. But even with the operation of the rule that the power needed to overcome drag is a function of the cube of the velocity, as you so rightly imply, this is the stuff of bar-room discussions and in the real world will not be noticeable. I mean we are all totally familiar with Surely?
Which is why I said it was irrelevant unless you drove at or near the top speed of (approx) 171 mph. Good knowledge on the cube though! Two pints of lager and a packet of crisps please! Happy Easter
And to you sir. Terry's Chocolate Orange in exchange? :food:
Yes please. Just one question, how did you get hold of Terry's "Chocolate Orange" uh:
