I'm looking to get a Quickshift on my 996 Turbo but because of the OPC warranty the only real option at the moment is an official Porsche Quickshift kit... Having never driven/tried a 996 with one of these fitted, has anyone got one fitted in the Hants, Wilts or Surrey area that would be willing to let me just try the gear change and see how much shorter it is before i go and spend hundreds on £££'s Thanks
Anyone with OPC Quickshift fitted in Hants, Wilts or Surrey?

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Jevo, I'm in Reading and have the 997 Quick Shift, exact fit. The difference is enormous with little downside except when really cold. I tried a couple of other kits but the 997 is the best in my mind and you don't have to destroy the original so you can put it back in at a later date. Sure you're OPC will have a car with it fitted in the showroom for you to have a play with
Hi Oze, Are you saying you have a 997 quickshift fitted to a 996? Didnt realise they were interchangeable.... Not sure if my OPC would fit a 997 part on a 996 car.... Cheers
Correct, exactly the same design as standard shift assembly and comes as a complete unit so you don't have to destroy the bushes installing the 996 B&M type short shift. Pretty sure OPC would be ok with fitting it. Having said that, it takes an hour to fit, easy to adjust and works a treat Part number 997 Short Shift Kit 997 424 983 00 Image available here next to it in my garage http://911uk.com/garage.php?mode=view_gallery_item&image_id=1307
short shift Hi Is this an easy diy job to do? Many thanks, Jonathan
Re: short shift Absolutely, suitable instructions are at http://www.bmracing.com/media/products/pdf/67.pdf , although you don't have to do the destruction of the old assembly bit because the 997 SSK kit is a complete replacement Takes an hour or so all in, just make sure you've got all the necessary Torx drivers, keep the screws apart for each section as they're not all the same and don't forget to mark your cables properly for alignment when instructed!
