Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

8 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Have done a fair bit of research on the 987.1 and 987.2 exhaust modifications. Some insiders have been generous with information as well. I have a spare exhaust and will give it a crack myself , grinder and welder in hand. Once we are done , i upload some results. Key points for me are to avoid droning and to achieve that crackle and overrun.

Wish I had your aptitude for DIY Would save so much money maintaining these aging 986/987's

i have all maintenance done by Jocaro for both my cars. They are great and very fair. Just playing around with bits and pieces. The truth is I have no free time at the moment. Driving once a months or so is it.

DIY is a state of mine, its easy if you put your mind to it, its not brain surgery.

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

did all my mechanical work on my Capris , Escorts, Cortinas , Bugeye , xj6 1, xj6 2 . V12 E type , Beetles , list goes on. We had more time and facilities . Sort of lost that interest a bit. Happy with wash . polish , small jobs , otherwise  just want to drive a reliable well maintained machine without getting the spanners out on the side of the road.

Hi Arne, Attached photos are an interesting version of what is effectively the "gundo hack" by Hayward and Scott. 25mm bypass pipe from inlet pre-cat to outlet pre-tip. Youtube sound videos: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eOw7Ipyxbmk https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cs2xIV898X0
