Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi All, Has anybody had any experience with reupholstering leather car seats with brand new leather? I have been offered a very good deal to get mine done. The problem is that the seats I have aren't that bad now - no major cracks or tears, etc. and every other photo of reupholstered seats I've seen, the shape is not quite right. The new leather always looks amazing, but the shape of the whole seat just doesn't look quite right to my eye. Any pics? I have terracotta leather for what it's worth.

POST 2Original post

Have you got any photos of what they currently look like? And if as you say they look ok now a decent car trimmer maybe could clean them up and maybe give them a re-colour? Knowing your starting point will help

POST 3Original post

I think I know what you mean. I see photos of cars for sale sometimes and the seats look “puffy” compared to factory ones. Was never sure if it’s intended, hard to do otherwise, or a sign of something not being done quite right?

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'll try and upload some pics later, Marty. Yes - JWM. "Puffy" is a good way to describe it. Also some of the piping/stitching around the perimeter can look a little off and distort the shape of the head rest and other sections. The leather is always very nice but like for some reason you can always seem to tell it's not factory. It's an okay compromise if you were overhauling the entire interior, but just concerned it will look a little out of place.

Driver's seat pics... Passenger seat pics... Last pic - just because it looked cool...

POST 6Original post

I'd just leave them. Couldn't justify reupholstering them. They're not bad.

POST 7Original post

They just need a good clean and re-dye…if you’re in VIC BM Leather Creations will have these come up a treat.

POST 8Original post

As mentioned @tomk86 Bill Moussa would be my recommendation he does a brilliant job and he’ll work his magic on making them look as good as new

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

That's what I thought too. I'm also wary of getting them reupholstered in case it alters how they feel. These seats are legit the most comfortable seats I've ever had in any car and I've had a lot of seat time in car seats over the years with many cars - I'm a sales rep so do lots of driving. Not based in Melbourne unfortunately. Based in Sydney.
