Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

1 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

hi folks, i'm hoping someone here has encountered a similar problem to help with a diagnosis and correspondingly a plan to go forward. I have a 1989 2,7 944 automatic. All has been running fine in its sluggish automatic way until the weekend just passed. When out on a club drive this weekend (one hot day 35C, wished the aircon worked) the transmission started feeling very rough and is stuck in 1st. It has the sensation that something is binding up inside the box , it will move reluctantly but wont change up. I parked up as soon as i could and the RACV returned it home. I also think that i lost my speedo at the same time, some i'm wondering if the drive for that has broken causing the issue. Has anyone encountered something like this before ? Also if anyone manual swapped their car and have a low km auto box taking up space in the garage....
