Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1Original post

Hi, Has anyone wired up a SHIFT-i LED shift indicator light system to a 987? I'm just about to try and wondered where is easiest to get the Tacho signal wire? It needs to be a wire carrying the RPM information - so it could be from the tacho, or the coils or the ECU... https://ecliptech.com.au/shift-i/ Ta HH

For 987.1 you can tap into the OBD port wires, lookup boxster and 997 installs. The OBD port is clipped in with 3 clips, squeeze those and push it up into the dash to release it. For 987.2 cars, that wire is no longer there, you have to tap into the DME harness back in the trunk. Upper connector on the DME, tap one of the wires going to pin 78, 79, or 80 will work. You will need to unwrap the cloth tape quite a bit to get there.

I just had one installed. The shop had to tap into a signal at the engine. 5 hours of labor was very painful. And unanticipated.
