Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Ive been bashing my head up the wall for awhile now i really cant make my mind up what wheels to go for its got to be 18" some advice will be great, also can we post pics of different wheels on 996`s that people have changed heres a pic of my car that the wheels will be goin on thanks :thumb:

POST 2Original post

In my opinion the 996 with GT3 bodykit there is only one wheel that looks right (keeping factory) and that is the GT3 Split rims. Can't post pics just now but if u look on my website www.exelwheels.co.uk under customer gallery, u will see an identical car with them on. The other wheel that might work well is the Carrera 5 spoke as per facelift 996 which I have pics still to be uploaded. I love the ones u have but not with the bodykit, and just wondering are they 17's as they seem small??? Happy to help and supply whatever factory wheel u like most if I have in stock , but either way u are spot on going for 18's. I do offer a try before u buy fitting service where needed. Will be interesting to see what others think.

POST 3Original post

If you don't want GT3 wheels, Go for Sport Technos, they look ace (I think anyway) and easy to clean. Not sure if you can get them in 18" though.

POST 4Original post

I think I might have posted about the wheels that I put on my car a few times now, but I just think they give it that racing look, and should look good with your M030 suspension set up. Plus the rear track is wider than standard so really help beef up the rear of the car. Best mod I have bought for the car, and can't help sharing it with folk!

POST 5Original post

They look GREAT :worship: Shame I can't afford new wheels  think I will get mine re-done in GT Silver and be done with it. What i really want are the BBS split rim race wheels with polished rims and gold centres (like on the GT3 RSR) - love em!

POST 6Original post

I share your pain. I often think about getting a set of new wheels. But i can't make up my mind either. I'm not great at picking curtains either. But those wheels on the red 911 do look great.

My personal favourite aesthetically would be Manthey MM2 magnesiums - however they come at a price that I certainly would never go to. A number of the German 996RSs at the recent Destination Nurburgring track day were on the Enkei RC-T4 (it is a many spoked design, but works for me in a racey kind of way and is made in a nice gunmetal finish) but I have never seen them for sale over here. OZ Ultraleggers also look very nice, but those are disproportionately pricey too... Can you really go wrong with a set of OE 5 spoke Carreras? Failing that - a set of 996 GT3 Mk2 style wheels (but with the 8j fronts rather than 8.5 on the actual GT3 wheel) recently failed to sell on eBay from a dealer... They would work for you... :?:

POST 8Original post

i got a set of OE 5 spoke carreras with brand new michelin tyres off ebay for , wait for it , 900 quid best bargain i've had off ebay for a long , long time !!

POST 9Original post

Did you have any cause to doubt their provenance?

POST 10Original post

+ 1 to JP... The Carrera 5 spokes are quite often unrepairable if they get badly kerbed, they buckle from the centre and its impossible to tell from looking, so tread with caution. I have come across a large number of buckled wheels and know of other buyers who have had their fingers burned. Lovely wheels and very light too!

POST 11Original post

good point I was also thinking they might have been stolen

POST 12Original post

I also picked up some mint Carreras for mine from Ebay for £800 with almost new tyres a couple of years ago - the story stacked up completely and the 996 facelift was parked there on the drive with new wheels when I went to collect. I love them, they look completely OEM and more modern than the original GT3s, also a whole lot easier to clean!

POST 13Original post

At 19 or 20 I would go for Victor Equipment Le Mans for cosmetics. At 18 I would try to minimise unsprung weight and go for OZ Ultraleggera HLT.

POST 14Original post

not at all , had the blokes home number which tallied withhis home address , i had to get them picked up by a courier ,in my experience dishonest people look for dishonesty hahahahahaa

POST 15Original post

if on a 996 , do not touch 19 or 20 inch rims , imho they copromise the handling ,
