Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1690426.htm Anyone know it? I am going to be buying one this month (not this one but a 2003 possibly) and am now afraid that depreciation will hit hard over the next 2 years...

POST 2Original post

Doesn't look at all bad for the money. The tan interior, love it or hate it isn't as sort after as the more mainstream black. Knocking on 70k takes a little value away as well, worth a look if you are in the market for one

POST 3Original post

interior to die for not a trait for this one Minus 5k perhaps for that. Milage up for some Colour mid to not preffered Plus all the unmentioned faults Not such a good buy TT's stable at 30k is my prediction

POST 4Original post

That looks about right to me as a private sale :dont know: Possibly a little bit too cheap, but not massively - maybe he needs to sell it quick and has chosen it to be the cheapest in the UK currently accordingly? With that mileage and that interior (and no Sat Nav) it's never going to be much more than about £25,000 privately and £28,000 from an Indy.

POST 5Original post

I suspect that this one is the exception (lapis blue/tan/no sat nav/mileage etc) rather than the rule. Also, there may be a few other gremlins that are driving the price down eg incomplete service history, tyres/brakes needing replacing etc Even so, still worth a look at that price !

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Northway Car Not for me with that interior - which I guess means I've answered my own question. Here's another one: If you had £35K to spend on a 996TT (which I am fortunate enough to have) would you buy this Northway car at £30K? 2001 51 Reg PORSCHE 911 996 TURBO The mileage is high, but if it's from Ray then it's surely a goodun'. Would you guys follow the old adage, to buy the best car you can afford, or would you have this and put £5K extra into the contingency fund??

POST 7Original post

In a word yes After seeing, driving and a ppi/ haggle.

POST 8Original post

I know ray has a good reputation, but that seems a lot of money for such a high mileage 01 car to me? I think you can buy a bit better for £35,000?

POST 9Original post

He must have updated the site, the 51 is 30k, also a nice 53 at 34k.

POST 10Original post

Hideous interior narrows the market (though it does have sports seats in its favour) Colour is fine No Sat Nav is largely irrelevant, PCM 1 isnt exactly state of the art and the sim card business for the phone is a joke If everything else was in order its a good price, if you can live with the interior Depends on the buyer really, someone looking to spoend 30k plus willlikely still spend that and get tehy spec they really want Someone looking to spend 23kish on a facelift C2/4 might decide they can have a TT for another grand

POST 11 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Sorry for the confusion: yes the Northway car was always £30K and that's the one I'm now asking about. Do people agree with adeymars that I should go for it at this price and put £5K away?

POST 12Original post

Personally, I would look to spend a little more and get a younger/lower mileage example. For around £35k you should be able to get a better car. As an example, this one looks good (and has the PCM2 Nav): http://www.mkg3000.com/vehicle-details.asp?Make=54&ID=1069935 (You should be able to pick this up for £35k or a bit less, )It is advertised on AutoTrader for £34,995)

POST 13Original post

Personal opinion only But I wouldnt consider buying any 996 without sports seats I went from a 993 with hardbacks to a TT with standard seats and IMO they are not very good (I'm a big bloke so the width at the shoulders makes a lot of difference) Sports seats in my current 964 are better than standrad TT seats

POST 14 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Good tip, thanks. I'm not exactly petite either Well the Northway car has sports seats so that's a mark in its favour. I know I could buy a better car for £5K more (as in lower mileage, newer anyway) but I am tempted to view this one and stick it in the bank. I defo don't want a silver car - gotta be Seal Grey or Basalt Black for me. There are some nice ones for sale elsewhere but not from places with Northway's reputation. I guess maybe I could just be patient and wait for them to get something newer. I don't like being patient - i've been looking for 8 months already waiting for the cash to be available.

POST 15Original post

When I look at a car I see what the car will be "worth" in my hands in x months time. A car with 67k miles in a few months will hit a mental barrier... i.e. 70k miles. That alone will hit the resale value and potential buyers. You buy a car with 60k miles on it the value will be no different to a 63k miler (roughly) but there is "something" about cars going through 10k levels. I am in the same sort of boat as you, I have enogh (when I sell my car) for a younger model and lower miles but then I have also seen some bills that if I was unlucky to get would hit the wallet hard. If I had a few £££ tucked away for a rainy 911 day then it might not sting so much. I am thinking now along the lines of a slightly older 996tt with the cash in the bank. What did it for me was I saw an absolute minter the other day and it was X reg.
