Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

2 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Just wondering, I am about to order a PSE for my 2003 996 cabriolet. If i get the dealer to install the exhaust without the electronic switch and leave the bypass valves always open, is there any chance of the bypass valves closing due to a failure? and remain always shut? I guess it should be a lot cheaper and quicker to install the Porsche Sports Exhaust without the electronic switch. Is that right? thanks Chucksta

POST 2Original post

You are correct Chuck, I have yet to heard of anyone having the valves close, they are spring loaded and it would take a miracle for a rock to fly up there and break the spring. Each muffler has its own spring loaded valve. Dealer charged me 2 hours to install mine w/o electronics. Kevin
