Has anyone in the club seen or met anyone that did the RUF 3.8X51 engine mod for the Cayman S? Adds 80-100 HP (up to 385 HP to wheels), and would turn the car into the ultimate performer among the Porsche models.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I haven't met anyone yet but I will be at RUF-Automobile in a few weeks to get a tour of the facility to see what new toys they have. I recently got a package from RUF in regards to converting my 987S. Sadly nothing available for the '06 3.2 model year but for you Cayman S guys as most of you know RUF does a kompressor (supercharger 80-100hp) conversion as well as the 3.8 and 3.8 X51 conversions. The pricing i got for the Ruf 3400 Kompressor was 75,000 Euro. That's for the entire package (aero, wheels, interior) though and not just engine alone work. As for reliability, well never heard of a RUF car having any major problems from their factory.
Thanks Harry, let me know how it goes at the factory - I am willing to put the money into the car, because most of my friends have turbos or GT3s. I think the Cayman S with RUF would be a competitor for them on the track, big time.
There are at least 2 members here who have had their cars modified by RUF, I'm sure at least one of them will chime in.
If you want to make your Cayman compete with 997/Turbo/GT3 cars on the track you should already be booked for your LSD install. Also think about track tires. The RuF work is gonna cost so much, why don't you just buy a faster car?
I love the looks and handling of the Cayman, I think with the right HP and suspension, it can be one of the fastest track cars out there. Sorry to be such a rookie, but what is an LSD install?
Hey neighbor. This will get your started on LSD: http://www.planet-9.com/showthread.php?t=11038&highlight=LSD
I appreciate the response, but I am totally a driver, not a fixer (I wash, wax, and gas my car, anything else requires experts). Those pictures don't tell me anything about what the LSD does for the car. Can you put in terms that I can understand?
Maybe this? http://www.planet-9.com/showthread.php?t=11116&highlight=LSD
Now, that was helpful - Thanks. Sounds like that indeed is a must to track the car. I am thinking about the RUF 3.8X51 engine swap as well - that should make the car a total beast on the track.
