Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I am in the process of buying my first 911 (996) and wondered if i can easily put in xenons and what do they look like once fitted? will it spoil or enhance the look. i am going to stick a private plate on so people will never know what age it is (hopefully!) andy

POST 2Original post

As far as I am aware, Xenons can be fitted to a MK1 996 Carrera; however, the headlights covers are usually frosted, so the difference in appearance would be hardly noticeable. Obviously road visibility at night would be significantly increased.

POST 3Original post

Both Litronic designs show distinct projector lens "eye" within assembly. "Fried Egg" 996.1 Litronics (xenons) are in themselves "plug and play" (excludes washer and auto levellers as they are additional "modules"). "Crying Eyes" 996.2 Litronics are a bit more fiddly (a wire or two needs splicing first) - see here: http://911uk.com/viewtopic.php?t=53002 All 996 and 986 Boxster front headlamp covers were completely clear - no frosting or grating irrespective of halogen or xenon operation (also true of 997 and 987). NB - 996.1 and 986 Boxster "indicator" sections were "grated" with prism refractor style.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
