Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

15 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

One of the USA based 40th Anniversary models clocking up the miles - not too sure if he's bothered about the IMS bearing, just too busy driving. https://www.facebook.com/40jahre911/photos/pcb.2211477055768038/2211476979101379/?type=3&theater Edit - we think he's still on the original bearing. Cheers....Ian

POST 2Original post

.....and they're American miles - twice as big as ours.

POST 3Original post

Wow thats pretty epic! Well played to that chap :worship: I do like how their attitude to miles is so much better than ours.

POST 4Original post

They've no option, its 30 miles to the local boozer.

POST 5Original post

The most mileage of one of our customers car on original is 186500 miles.

POST 6Original post

Mine's coming up to 171k, with all original internals. Replaced the RMS earlier this year and had a look at the IMS whilst the box was out. Seal is long gone, but nothing visibly wrong, so left it alone.

POST 8Original post

I saw that on FB the other day, great stuff. Interesting how the Americans worry less about putting miles on their 996s and also don't seem to mention bore score much. There does however seem to be a whole industry based around IMSB snake oil replacements.

POST 10Original post

Strange as it may seem .. and obviously IMHO .. these cars Dont eat Ims bearings ... ***** can happen though .

POST 11Original post

Amen DeMort, that one sentence could probably sum up the whole IMSB issue.

POST 14Original post

We brits are so hung up on mileage ie 100k and it's going to blow up and it's worth nothing when chances are cars with 100k plus are used and have money spent on them to keep them in working order.

POST 15Original post

My 2 previous cars had in the region of 150k on when I bought them. 3 years later and I moved them on for virtually the same price.
