Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have a standard 996 TT and as far as I know it hasn't been remapped but today I hit 1.1 bar boost ! As far as I know you should only be hitting around 0.6 - 0.7 bar boost on a standard TT. I was flooring it in second gear and so not sure if that makes any difference. Any advice???? Cheers Nick

POST 2Original post

Hi mate, it shouldn't be hitting 1.1 bar. Mine did this when i first got it, in fact it went way past that, which is why i took it straight back to get it sorted. I know my MAF had gone but I think it was something to do with a mechanism that controls the actuators, but I'm no tech. Anyway, since it was done it tops at 0.7 again. Jim

POST 3Original post

On a cold night if I try I can just about manage 0.8, but for the most it's around 0.6 to 0.7...

POST 4Original post

I get between 0.9 and 1.0...mine has been mapped but not too sure to what.

POST 5Original post

is that at high rpm ? at low rpm it holds 1.1bar, at high rpm it holds 0.8 - 0.9. non x50 mapped by Parr

POST 6Original post

mines been remapped and now hits 1.1, before remap only got 0.8 bar.

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

1.1 Bar Mine only hit 1.1 bar when I was flooring the little baby. Taking it out on a long drive down to Devon tomorrow and will test it out then. As far as I know it hasn't been remapped but wondering how much it costs to get rolling roaded as that would give me the answer for sure.

The buyers guide here: http://www.gtpurelyporsche.com/buyingguide.asp refers to a wastegate spindle in the turbo occasionally seizing up leading to overboosting. Best to get it checked.
