I just talked with the guys at BeckerAutoSound.com. For a cost of $175 they will do some mumbo jumbo on the head unit (need to send my nav unit to them). When I get it back, it will have a 4 foot cable with a 3.5mm connection at the end. I can then plug that into my source (iPod, XM, etc.). They said that there will be a switch at the end of the cable so that I can control where the head unit is getting the audio signal. Is anyone familiar with this process? Thoughts?

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

yea, they just told me they could do this to my CDR23....though with less details.
Go with the Dension unit. Much more versatile.
I have the dension unit in my 40th with nav. I have a 8gig flash drive connected. Works great. I got mine used. Two wire install. Plus unplug and pluging two fiber lines. 1 hour tops.

+1 espensive but accepts multiple inputs and really easy installation
Yup.....USB drive, ipod, and aux-in I bought mine through Eric at Bumperplugs. Great service and his pricing was the best out there.
+1 for Eric at bumperplugs.com. Very helpful and supporter. He does have group buys on the dension from time to time.
