Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

8 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Friend of mine has a GTS 4.0 He gets a lot of brake squeal but Porsche dealer says it’s totally normal because “racing brakes”…. I think that’s BS for a road car. Do any other owners get this problem, is it something that’s acceptable? Thanks

POST 2Original post

No brake squeal on mine. 2 years old and £7K on the clock.

POST 4Original post

It did it for first month ( approx 200/250 miles ) hasn't since

POST 5Original post

Carbon Ceramics or steel brakes? Normal on carbons to get some squeal/grind. Steels. May be glazed discs. When road/traffic conditions allow, from 60MPH do a positive deceleration to 10MPH (you don't need to trigger the ABS, just a fairly aggressive braking), repeat 2 or 3 times in a row. It used to be in the Manual, may still be?

POST 6Original post

When he next washes the car, get him to clean out the drill holes on the discs with the jet wash. Build up of brake dust in the holes can cause brake squeal. Same with the calliper

POST 7Original post

Common on GT4 on steels, we’ll it happens on mine from time to time. Some suggestion it’s the type of pad used and being more a track compound.
