Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

Hi I'm thinking of buying a 911 996 carrera 2 tiptronic 1999 with 100,000 miles and full service history are these reliable please advise thanks

POST 2Original post

The right car with the right provinance and once purchased being looked after as it needs to be (bearing in mind it's still an expensive car just at a late stage in its life) then probably yes. A cheap car with no history and in poor condition then no. There are many threads re the 996 and 997 cars and engines which have a number of issues which can cost the price of a small car to put right. Oh, there is no such car as a 996 C2S by the way

Lol ok thanks for you advise 👍👍

POST 4Original post

All the auto gearboxes are named "Tiptronic S" hence the confusion from advertisers either ignorant to the correct terms or deliberately trying to mislead. There is a Carrera 4S which has the turbo-style wide body and a full width reflector at the rear, these are 4 wheel drive and available as either manual or Tiptronic S.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
