Hi, Has anyone attempting to add a rear view camera and managed to get it to display on the PCM screen? Is there an aftermarket option to add this to the PCM ? Elvis Dowson

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I doubt very much that there is any way to feed video into this display.
I believe you would have to install an aftermarket unit, from Pioneer or Alpine.
The only success that I have seen is with aftermarket head units. http://www.planet-9.com/cayman-electronics/13439-d3-installed.html http://www.planet-9.com/cayman-electronics/10691-avic-d3-installed.html http://www.planet-9.com/cayman-electronics/11162-backup-camera-install-15-mins.html

I have the Pioneer AVIC-D3, but no backup camera. The installer said that he rarely installs them on Porsches, since they are so small. Honestly, I have some difficulty seeing out the back. Do you find the camera useful when backing up? For example, is it easy to measure the distance through the screen? I have a backup camera in my '08 Suburban, but that is a huge car, I am just not sure if the same benefit would apply to a small car like the Cayman . Let me know your thoughts!
its not the biggest help, but i do use it to guage my distance from the wall where i work, i can judge it by looking at the parking concrete ledge. i see it go right out of view and i know im as far as i can go. also its cool to turn on the cam as im driving so i can see the road behind me
I think there was a guy on renntech that sent his PCM away to have an AUX video input enabled , similar in functionality to the Cayenne PCM which has a video input. Not sure if the cayenne PCM (although it looks the same) will interface with a 987/ 997 vehicle.
Have a look at Porsche | 911 | Boxster | Carrera | Cayenne | Cayman | 991 | Panamera | OEM Backup Camera System . They offer car specific backup camera systems which include a module enabling the system to interface with the PCM.

So when I bought my 2011 Cayman the sales person said he PCM had been updated to the latest system. I bought it over a year ago. When I went to the Crux Iterfacing Solutions page it said only 2014 Caymans. Does it mean that since my car was updated with the newer PCM system that I can not have this interface put on the car and have a backup camera? Midnight Shadow
I've toyed with the idea of adding a camera since my Pioneer AVICZ 140 supports one. However, I wonder if it is as useful as it could be since the bumperettes will block most of the peripheral vision. So you couldn't use it to see if something is coming while backing out of a blind parking-spot. In a car this low, you're blind anytime someone is parked beside you. So my Q's to anyone with a B/U camera on a 987: where did you mount it? how useful is it for parking lot safety (besides just judging distance to a barrier/object straight behind you)?
I HAVE A 2008 Cayman S Design edition one with nav and PCM ? Can I add this to my car?
