I have a '99 996 and would like to switch the front seat backs to even out the wear and tear. Both seat backs have release levers on both sides, so seems like this switch could be made. The drivers side is just about worn through the leather in a few sections. Can this be done? Any tips/instructions? Pics? Thank you in advance for you help. If not, there may be a DIY post coming soon... or at least coming this spring. ps. Re-posted from a few yrs ago. Issue never tackled.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Bump... I too would like to know if the front seata are interchaingable or at least the seat backs? I have the sport seats. Thanks in advance, Paul
Gentlemen, This question has been posed many times over the years on some very long threads from time-to-time, and I have yet to see anyone who has successfully attempted and completed this. Apparently, the mechanicals from left to right are substantially different. Usually the DIY'ers end up posting lots of technical and detailed photos, exploded views from the parts book, and never really seem to successfully complete the original task. In short, it is probably MUCH less hassel and expense to have the afflicted seat recovered at a high quality interior shop than to cut and paste the internals of the seats. I could be wrong, but I have not in 4 years ever seen a completed swap of the seat backs, regardless of version. Lucky for you, someone will believe I have thrown down the gaunlet, and will search to find a thread you need and repost it here as a challenge to me. Either way, you win.
Here's where someone did it with their 993 seats. I'm not sure how many similarities there are with the 996 seats though... https://rennlist.com/forums/993-1995...ap-w-pics.html
try looking up the part numbers here to see if they are the same http://www.porsche.com/all/media/pdf...SA_KATALOG.pdf
