Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

For those interested in data logging on track... Ever since purchasing a Traqmate data logging system, I've been interested in figuring out how to capture and log the accelerator pedal position via one of the analog input channels on the Traqmate. Today I finally was able to gather up the necessary instrumentation and insulation piercing probes to reverse engineer the Cayman accelerator. To my surprise (and delight) the Cayman accelerator, while a new design internally, produces analog voltages that are compatible with much older e-gas designs. Consequently it's very easy to implement data logging of the throttle position. I was expecting a much bigger challenge of decoding serial data or pulse width modulated signaling. For now, I've only completed the reverse engineering. For safety reasons I will install a simple opamp buffer in order to ensure that any circuit fault or noise generated by the connection to the datalogger is very isolated from the pedal & ECU. As soon as I complete the actual implementation I'll post a detailed article with photos. My next goal is to figure out how to capture data from the steering position sensor that supplies steering angle data to the PSM system. Does anybody have any info on the steering angle sensor - where exactly it's located or how it's connected to the rest of the electronics in the Cayman ?

I believe the sensor is just forward of the steering wheel. I'm away from home and do not have access to my manuals. Try page 80 of https://techinfo.porsche.com/techinfo/pdf/en/catalogues/E_987C_KATALOG.pdf .
