when I drive on the freeway at 70+ the spoiler is not automatically rising, do you think there is a problem with it? It rises when I push the button but not otherwise....

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

A little more info, please. First, the spoiler is supposed to rise at 75 - are you up to that speed? How do you monitor the spoiler - it cannot be seen in the mirror, there is no warning light, so an outside party has to watch and tell you. Marty
Oh, I thought the light on the button lights up when it's up...I guess it is working.
My dealer has some little blue pills for your problem, but notify your doctor if your spoiler stays up for more than 24 hours.
lol...nice first post, welcome!
I recall people posting numbers as to what they think the resulting down force from the spoiler could be, and the numbers are not very large. I too wish the spoiler would have an indicator when in the up position - for people that track the car, the spoiler can keep on going up and down unless they remember to set it to manual mode.
If you have an erect spoiler for more than 24 hours, call your friends and brag! Hell, take a photo - and have it bronzed!
I wondered if my spoiler was rising at speeds above 75MPH as there is no way to tell when driving the car in terms of cabin notification. So I had my girlfriend follow me and raised the speed to 80MPH and low and behold the thing does not rise automatically! I have to manually press and hold the buton inside the car to make it go up or down? Is this a setting that has been disabled or malfuntioned as it seems the motor for the spoiler works and I am getting no error messages? Thanks.
From the 2009 Boxster manual on page 67: "The rear spoiler extends at approximately 75 mph and retracts at approximately 50 mph." "The warning light in the on-board computer lights up when the rear spoiler does not extend over 75 mph or its end position is not reached." Note: the error icon looks like a car's rear with two arrows pointing up and down. If you don't see this error when driving, the spoiler is probably working fine. I expect the car must be at the 75 mpg speed for a duration of time before Porsche reacts. As other posters have said, you cannot see the spoiler while driving.
Thanks for the reply. I have a 2005 Boxster S, although I'm assuming that the verbiage is the same or similar. I had my girlfriend follow me on the freeway while I raised the speed to 80 and stayed there for about 10 seconds.....the spoiler did not rise, nor were there any error messages. I wonder if this raises bigger concerns?
If you're sure, then I'd go to the dealer ASAP. It might have been disabled by mistake. Some people disable these to install aftermarket spoilers
