Guys i need your help. Please respond. Guys i placed my order of 2009 cayman S model in april '09. I was assured i would get the delivery of the car before 7th of sep '09. Suddenly then i am informed that the car is delayed by a month and they are not sure about the date of delivery. In first week of sep i got the VIN no of my car, and was told to pay the rest of the amount and upon that i would be informed about the shipment details. So i payed the amount, so 100% of the car cost has been given to the dealer now. But now even after 20 days i haven't got any shipment details . Every time i call them, i've been told " we are closely following the germany plant and as soon as we get the details we'll pass on to you " Is the dealer cheating on me? The terms and conditions strictly state that the dealer does not guarantee the delivery date. So what am i suppose to do? Please help guys.

POST 2Original post

Sorry, but this is normal, hang tight. They really do not know sooner.

POST 3Original post

you have a vin # so i would think you can ask someone in charge "dude, wheres my car". try the porsche zone manager ?

POST 4Original post

Whenever i call them i just get to hear "Sir we are trying our best and we'll get you the details soon" Thats it! How do i even know that am i getting my car or not?

POST 7Original post

no i dont know any finlanders....sorry...i drank their vodka once....is it the norm to pay in full before you get a car there ? on an ordered z06 once you have a vin # just about any dealer could look it up and give you an "event code" that told you in almost real time where your car was/is ....my dealer called me and told me the delievery truck was 20 mins away but that was in 2007 and just a chevy

POST 8Original post

Yes the terms and conditions clearly state that, - 60% upon placing the order and 40% on the confirmation of VIN #. Thats the reason i am worried. I have payed the whole amount and the dealer is not responding! I am having sleepless nights now. Aren't this terms the same in any other country?

POST 9Original post

schwabe says its normal....from what ive read of his posts on just about any subject i would tend to believe him...be cool hommie...its coming

Dante, I am a Finn, incidentally currently visiting Bangalore and actually my wife used to do some consulting to Valmet Automotive plant. Our first kid's god father belongs to senior management of the plant. As far as I can tell contacting to plant would not really help you in your issue as I am certainly not connected enough to extract any information. Porsche is guarding their customer and supplier relationships very efficiently making sure that all communication flows through chain of command. Achtung! Your best bet is to really put some pressure on your sales guy who should be able to be a bit more helpful.

POST 11Original post

Dante: I would really never give 100% of the money to anyone before receiving the goods, however, I don't live where you live. I don't think pressuring the dealer will help at all. They have no control of the shipping or manufacturing processes. The Porsche Zone Manager may be of assistance just to look up the VIN and confirm that the car is actually in the pipe line and hasn't been sold to someone else etc. I'd also drive by once in a while to confirm he's still in business! If you contact Porsche Zone Manager and they can't find this VIN, then I would be concerned. If Porsche says everything is normal and there has been a delay, then patience is the best policy. Don't punish your dealer for something out of their control. Remember you will probably need their help with your ownership experience...things like warranty work, advice etc. Don't burn bridges you may need later.

POST 12Original post

Thanks Schwabe, extanker, Brad, klehtine, sixisenuff. I think i really made a big mistake buying the car from the dealer and agreeing the terms and conditions. But what could i have done any better? He is the authorised dealer of Porsche here in India. How can Porsche allow such terms to be included in their policy in India? May be i should have bought the car through an importer instead. Guys if he does not give me my car then? Is there anyway he can have profits through this? Even though i have the reciepts of the money given signed by them. But then again there are hundereds of Porsche here in India, and mostly delivered by the dealer himself.

POST 13Original post

You have the VIN number, now ask your dealer for the Engine & Key serial numbers. Your car should have a ship allocated approx a week after assembly. My dealer was able to track the date via computer link to the factory: VIN chassis/number allotment Body spray date Date of Chassis/Engine marriage Shipping date & departure date. My car is currently on water heading towards the Pacific ocean. Arrives 20th November. If your dealer is an authorized Porsche dealer there is no reason they couldn't access the same data. Your dealer sounds dodgy IMO. BTW, where would you dive a Porsche in India? I've traveled to India on 7 occasions and couldn't imagine anywhere to drive a car with 15" wheels let alone 18" wheels.

POST 14Original post

+1 on this. Again, if you are concerned that the dealer is not legit, get on the internet and find the Porsche Zone Manager for India, give them you VIN information and ask them to confirm that the car is in the system and has not been sold. If it is there, then relax and stop jumping to the conclusion that you are being swindled. Be a little patient! If these are normal terms for buying an expensive car in India, they will also confirm that for you. Since you have all the paperwork, it should be easy to bring a claim against the dealer if all is not well. I rather think things are not as bad as you think. Building a car is a complicated process and the finances of Porsche at the momement further complicate the process. I think you will get your car. Be nice. Be patient.

POST 15Original post

You are worried that an Authorized Porsche Dealer is going to cheat you out of your car, one that already has a confirmed number? Are you afraid he is going to sell it to someone else and not have to answer for it? Steal it? Or what? If so, if that is a real possibility, I am glad I don't live in that country.

POST 16Original post

Production delays happen, I would not be overly concerned. The network which allows dealers to monitor order status is rudimentary at best. I don't believe that our US system has the ability to view such a vehicle but what is your VIN#?

POST 17Original post

I have a feeling it is all going to work out. Doesn't sound suspicious, but it is different than the US where dealers take the chance that you will not go through with the purchase and they will have to inventory the car and look for another buyer. My car was ordered by someone else, in fact. Clearly most of us here are not expert enough in Indian law to give you "what if" advice. My bet is that you will have your car soon.

POST 18Original post

Thank you guys for your responsive reply. I am worried only because even after giving the VIN number he is not giving me the shipping details, if he just confirms it then i can wait. @ capercat, yes it is difficult to drive in most places, but think about people driving LP640's and ferrari here! Anyways i'll enjoy it on freeways. @ sixisenuff, i tried to find the zone manager, but couldn't find any. But as you said, i'll try and be patient. @ PorscheHawaii, These are my details. Chassis Number - WP0ZH9982AU770269 Engine Number - C A01762 The Customer Id. Commission Number is AM0007 @ DaveN007, thanks bro. Thanks for the concern. We have a couple of dealers here and around 5-6 more are up for construction in different cities. These dealers are here in India for many years now and have sold hundrerds of Porsches, so when i think about this, that hundreds of Porsche are being sold, i feel relaxed as well, that they won't cheat. I just spoke to the dealer, said he'll call me back with some details. I'll update you guys.

POST 19Original post

Ok guys a little update. Three days before i had a talk with Mr. Stan he is the managing director of Porsche India. He assured me that the vehicle will be here in 3-4 days then it would have to clear customs duty and i would get the delivery of the car before 14th of Nov '09. What a relief! I am all excited and waiting for the car. Thank you.

POST 20Original post

Congrats! that's around the same time I receive mine. Good to hear everything turned out fine.

POST 21Original post

Late to post on this but I have had to pay for a car up front before. I did 3 Euro deliveries in the 80's and all had to be paid for prior to taking delivery at the factory. I'm sure you won't have any issues.
