I have the C2 and love open top motoring and the whole feel of a 911 - I just wish it had that bit more grunt. I hear the turbo 996s were as rare are rocking horse poo...so what other 996 options are there? The 997 would be outside my budget... Would it be a facelift C4?
facelift 996 is 320 bhp Aniversary edition is I think 340 bhp but I'm fairly certain they didn't do it in cab form. Otherwise its tuning I'm afraid which might release 20-30 bhp but at considerable cost, or an Autofarm 3.7/3.9 all singing engine swap for about £15k (ouch). Much better to keep looking (and saving) for a turbo cab. There are more than you think and there's nothing like it if you must have a cab.
They can't be that rare I counted at least 7 of the 996 turbo cabs for sale on autotrader right now! The facelift version of the 996 will release a few extra ponies and would be cheaper than tuneing.

to anyone who has a Turbo cab 996: what is it like compared to a non-turbo cab? I did see a couple on autotrader and they seem to be in the 40k region. I can imagine that the feeling driving one of those with the roof down must be orgasmic!
