For no obvious reason.....the drivers side door wont open by the handle from outside. Inside works as normal. When the handle is pulled the window drops a bit (so the window thinks its working!) but the door simply doesnt open???? A known problem? Something I should DIY before taking to a dealer?

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
2 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

Had the same problem with my 996 c4s. Take door card of and have a look at the back of the door handle. There is a lever on the back of the handle which connects to a plastic piece that had come away. Simply pushed on. No problems since and a twenty minute fix. It's a fiddly job to get your hands in to fix but relatively straight forward. just make sure the sir bag can't go of!
